“GO! Network gave me hope that I would find something, even though I was looking for a job after many years.”
Nancy was working at Anheuser-Busch for many years when her job was eliminated due to the economic crisis. As she processed what had happened to her, she knew she would have to keep her spirits up and maintain a positive attitude.
A friend told Nancy about St. Patrick Center’s GO! Network and she attended the first meeting in February 2009. “I had decided that if it was going to be a group of people sitting around and complaining, then I did not want it,” Nancy says. “But that first day was nothing like that – everyone had a positive attitude and people were willing to help one another.”
Nancy continued to attend the GO! Network’s weekly half-day seminars, enjoying the opportunities to talk to other professionals about their journeys, and learn new skills to sell herself to companies that were hiring. Nancy’s passion for the GO! Network led her to be chair of the group’s program committee and member of the peer advisory committee, which works closely with St. Patrick Center’s Celtic Creative program to manage content and other aspects of the GO! Network.
And Nancy has gone back to work! She is now a consultant with a technology company. She is grateful to the corporate sponsors that allow the GO! Network to continue to offer high quality programs and attract new members in need.
