FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 30, 2010
After serving nearly eight years as the Chief Executive Officer of St. Patrick Center, Dan Buck has accepted a new leadership position within the St. Louis Catholic non-profit community. Effective November 8, 2010, Buck will become Executive Director of the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation.
“It’s been an incredible, faith-filled journey at St. Patrick Center,” says Buck, who joined the agency on March 17, 2003. “There have been many incredible milestones reached and outcomes attained, and St. Patrick Center is positioned for continued success well into the future.” While with the agency, Buck helped grow the operating budget from $6.7 million in Fiscal Year 2003 to its current Fiscal Year 2011 budget of $14.2 million.
St. Patrick Center’s Board of Directors have expressed their gratitude to Buck for his inspiring service. “Dan’s ability to convey and communicate our mission, and present a clear vision for the future has been the key to our sustainable growth and innovative new programs”, said Board President Steve O’Hara. “The agency has grown immensely under his leadership, not only in size but also in our level of effectiveness. We are ending homelessness for more people every year because of Dan’s tireless dedication. We are nationally recognized as an innovative agency that pushes the boundaries of quality homeless services. The entire leadership team, under Dan’s direction, is responsible for that success,” added O’Hara.
Buck, who left behind an 18 year broadcasting career to join St. Patrick Center, echoes that team success. “This agency is blessed with amazing people at every level of the organization. We have caring, compassionate and inspirational counselors and case managers with effective and dedicated program leadership. From top to bottom, from volunteers to staff, this agency has quality people doing quality work.”
The Board of Directors will immediately begin the official search process to find a new CEO. The board has appointed the agency’s Chief Operating Officer, Greg Vogelweid, to the role of interim-CEO, effective November 1. “Greg is an experienced leader with more than 17 years of executive leadership at St. Patrick Center,” said O’Hara. “We are grateful to have him take over the reigns while the board and executive team evaluate the appropriate next steps.”
St. Patrick Center’s executive team has nearly 35 years of experience with the agency, including Chief Development Officer Jan Rasmussen with 11 years. The three Senior Directors overseeing St. Patrick Center’s 28 housing, employment and mental health programs (Angela Casimere, Nancy Box & Ann Rotermund) have more than 45 years with the organization. “Our leadership team is extremely strong and experienced, and I have no doubt this agency will continue to thrive with their guidance and God’s grace,” says Buck.
Buck will begin his new position with the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation on November 8. “It’s another great Catholic mission that is doing God’s work daily and I’m honored by the opportunity to serve Glennon kids and their families,” Buck adds. Buck also plans to help the St. Patrick Center Board in their search process for his successor and will remain active with the agency as a volunteer and supporter.
