“St. Patrick Center is a sanctuary. I call it home, like a community of good people who reach out and make sure you’re doing fine.”
Tremayne was homeless for seven years after losing his construction job and his home. He was living in a tent near St. Patrick Center property when the City removed his possessions and he lost everything he owned. “I was pretty shook up and I knew I needed help, but this incident made things more urgent,” Tremayne says.
St. Patrick Center’s Mobile Outreach team worked with Tremayne to get him into the Shamrock Club Day Treatment program. He attended meetings and focused on his mental health. He also enrolled in the City Seeds Urban Farm program. “City Seeds got me in touch with my Creator. I began sowing the seeds of my soul, I put positive energy into what I was planting and the outcome was a good harvest!”
Today, Tremayne has an apartment in a good neighborhood and he’s enjoying cooking his meals, relaxing, reading and exercising. He’s building stronger relationships with his family members and doing side jobs in his community to make money.
Tremayne says his other home is St. Patrick Center, where he loves the staff and knows they’re keeping an eye on him and helping him stay focused. “I went from a lonely place, being homeless, to a place where I feel good and find hope. I thank God every day.”
