Following the graduation ceremony on October 18, St. Patrick Center debuted the BEGIN Café, where 10 BEGIN New Venture Center culinary companies had their products available for purchase.

The BEGIN New Venture Center, launched in October 2008, is the nation’s first small business incubator with mission sensitivity to the homeless population, meaning that in exchange for business resources, BEGIN New Venture Center companies work to train and/or hire St. Patrick Center clients as they grow. In October 2010, St. Patrick Center expanded the BEGIN New Venture Center by opening a state-of-the-art Culinary Suite where 17 culinary companies today make their products and train agency clients.

In addition to the benefits of a dynamic business location and access to a workforce of St. Patrick Center clients, all companies in the BEGIN New Venture Center receive ongoing business assistance, mentorship, individualized assessment, networking opportunities with other entrepreneurs and links to professional service providers. Currently, 23 small businesses (including the 17 culinary companies) are growing in the BEGIN New Venture Center.
