From the November 2011 edition of Chronicles
As we enter the holiday season in St. Louis, St. Patrick Center is again asking for your support as we work to enable people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to find homes, healthy lifestyles and jobs.
We understand the challenges that the economy has created for everyone in our community, and at St. Patrick Center we are dealing with a greater need for our programs every day, while the resources needed to staff and support these services continue to dwindle.
Your generosity is appreciated now more than ever as we focus on our holiday campaign. As a father with four children, it astounds me to realize that 40 percent of all people who are homeless in our community are children. Help St. Patrick Center break the cycle of homelessness and give families in need the opportunity to have a safe place to live and a brighter future.
I have spent a tremendous amount of time with our staff and clients during my first six months at St. Patrick Center. I have gained a greater appreciation for what we do every day. But more importantly, I see the potential in our clients and their desire to improve despite considerable obstacles. They are individuals – not very different from you or me. They come from all backgrounds and all corners of this community. It is our responsibility to support them and help them along their path to self-sufficiency.
Thank you for everything you do to make St. Patrick Center such a meaningful place! A home, if you will, where faith, hope, dedication and passion work together to transform lives.
