Why I Give: Ruth Murray, RN, Ed.D.
“My ultimate reason for what I do for St. Patrick Center is quite simple. The Center accomplishes so much for people! I share my blessings, my talents, my time and mu treasures with St. Patrick Center because I believe in what they are doing.
Thirteen years ago, I was inspired by Edith Cunnane and what she was doing at the Shamrock Club. Edith treated the homeless who came for a warm lunch and safe place from the cold as persons of dignity and worth. Taking people who, perhaps, have many limits and helping them achieve their goals – that helping relationship is the glue to helping people. That is what keeps me involved at St. Patrick Center.
If you are going to help people move on to a better quality of life, there has to be a relationship between staff and people. My pragmatic side is attracted to the agency as well because of its effectiveness and efficiency.”
Ruth Murray, RN, Ed.D. Retired Professor, St. Louis University School of Nursing Coordinator, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing Graduate Specialty Member, St. Patrick Center Board of Directors
